In 1981 we moved to Knaresborough, Merlin was joined in 1986 by Nell a Springer Spaniel, they adored one another, enjoying life on long walks and trips out in the car to the seaside.

Merlin was a big favourite with friends and with the kennel staff where he stayed when we went off to Scotland on holidays, being younger, Nell came with us and enjoyed her walks in the Highlands her favourite being the 26 miles she and Walter did from Corrour rail station across Rannoch Moor back to Spean Bridge - she slept the whole of the next day.

Nell was a firm favourite with all our dogs at the time other than Maise, our Sussex Spaniel.  This changed, however, when Nell developed liver cancer prior to her demise in 1998.
